Very good. Raal 70-20XR...interesting.
Oh, yes, the 70-20XR is very interesting. I did not have this driver but Alex allowed me to experimented with some elements of it’s design in context on my “Wa...

Hi Romy,
I have recently sent out my S2s for major cleaning/recharging job.
Pictures should be on the internet soon and I will post link if anyone
is interested. In the meantime I am listening to a typical

Well, first of all, I would like to mention that I edited your post replacing the link from eBay images to the link to the post which features the same images only hosted on my site. I did it because eBay listing will expire in 30 days and I do not w...

There is a speaker maker in Russia, Moscow – Alexander Kniysev who just introduced his own take on “Resonance Oops”. What he does is not my cap of tea and I see a number of issues with his design that I would object but it is not my speaker. Neverthe...

Ok, so should be burned in nicely. There are some theories around how mylar and similar interwinding materials (as used by Lundahl, if that is the OPT you are using) can need a fair bit of run in. This is more of an issue on eg input transformer...

http://www.webbtjanst.se/lenco/loudspeakers.asp shows some photos of unfinished horns. Comments on mouse-over.The 250Hz horns are probably not super optimal since I'm crossing over at, I think, around 1600Hz right now. Yes, the little horns...

Without completely understanding the post, I listened to all the samples (which by the way, will play immediately without doing anything if you have a mac...oops!). I first ran the files through my main system (there is a laptop + DAC associated with...
Hi Romy,Interesting direction. Sounds like minimalism (though not necessarily in the typical musical sense, e.g., John Cage).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MinimalismNeilPS: Please excuse my being way under the 165 word 'minimum'.[/qu...

No question in my mind that the tubes themselves contribute to the sound we get from tube-based systems. Funny how I go to such lengths to get "quiet" tubes and use dampers even as I realize that even the quietest tubes are doing their bit to/f...

Firstly let me say that I believe musicians could be just about the most important people to judge the quality of Hi Fi. They know how the music sounds during creation so can best judge if that quality has been preserved (less destroyed) at playback....

I still remember proposed solution for symetrical TAD 1201 horn loaded midbass sections. Was it to free listener from sweet spot low seat position ? I could imagine that that midbass horn performing up to 1000Hz sitting low on the floor would impair&...
In talking with Shelly Katz a few days ago, I brought up the topic of how sound is perceived in the context of layered sound or indeed oops. He is a very busy man and we did not have long to develop the conversation, but this is ...

Based on my own long-gone experience it appears that every horn is "loaded" to sound just like a horn, in terms of length and flair versus frequency demands, not to mention phasing/cancellation problems that I would like to see/hear corrected digital...

Oops... Ok, I admit it, I was up all night with an Excel-based profile generator.I wrote :"...I will pass on carbon purely out of financial considerations... At 40€/m X 100m, we are into the sort of cash that I'd rather put toward real...

Well, the first hurdle is matching efficiency from a dynamic driver to over-the-top horns like yours; but perhaps for others with somewhat lower efficiency horns...http://www.supravox.fr/anglais/haut_parleurs/285_GMF.htmI have had my eye on this one ...

I tend to look at specs even though they might not tell much about sound. I saw that one of the DSP processors has an ambience type phase injection option for a pair of front ambience-type speakers, along with the rear ambient speakers. I am probably...

I decided to terminate the Kunashirsky account as he unfortunately keeps coming back. I figured that Kunashirsky is too good for this site. I would make a service to humanity if I prevent such a great intellect as Kunashirsky to waste his valuable ti...

I've been kicking around the Stupid and Lazy Version of this for some time, where one simply runs two different, "characteristic-[un]matched" drivers on the same frequency band. Oops... So, why not the same drivers pushed by the same amps that a...

I was hoping it was something to do with building Tapped Horns for the low bass. Maybe because I thought Romy wrote somewhere (can't find it) that the line-array bass units were the "weakest" part of the speaker system. I keep thinkin...

Well, when you read my site and since the majority of the context with this site is generated by me you might come across a “peculiar semantics and phonetics” while you read my posts. It is perfectly fine, you are not alone and sometimes I mysel...

Bud, thanks for saying well what I have been trying to say (poorly) for years. This plus "corona discharge" effects from large parts, especially, can make it very difficult to quiet, say, a phono stage that is full of large parts, especially transfo...

Hi Paul. Clear now. Well that "horn" actually adds a slight 6dB boost from 200 upwards, fading out around 1k. I assume that was just the missing piece to make most 8" driver (thats actually a fullrange) pretty flat up to the top. And likely what the ...
Well, it looks like you've somehow managed to just drop this "oops" box of yours in there and very neatly offset some main speaker small peaks and valleys, which is VERY interesting, if not the point...
Rather involved discussion about Helmholtz-type speakers. Here's another proponent, Hans Kortenbach:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHBlikzKoRgI have only "heard" the Musical Affairs speakers on YouTube, but I have to say, they are able to do some s...

Jessie, your post catches me thinking about multi-channel driver matching, as well. I am not familiar with the Fanes, but I wonder if simply throwing more power at them would make them nothing more than louder, so they would then "match" the res...
